Six Inch Under

I made a promise I’m gonna break now: I woved not to write long updates, but this time I simply have to. So much has happened over these past two weeks, that I haven’t even had the time to write about it. But now I do. It’s quarter to two and I’m watching the Emmy Awards pre-show, which is filled with commercials. So I have plenty of time.

Most important thing has been my friends Ville and Karri’s wedding, which took place yesterday at G18 downtown. Boy that was a fun party! Best wedding I’ve attended to. 135 guests, mostly relatives, but at least one third was us friends. The wedding was perfect mixture on distinguished family-orientated suit-wearing gala (yes, even I went and bought a new shirt!) and gay-culture-filled party. There were speeches (one from a priset, even) and there were drag shows. There was a game show and stealing of the groom. There was simply everything.

I was placed, like most of us random friends to a table called Voulez Vous. Next to me sat Jouni and Ville, who’s boyfriend Tom sat opposite of me with Veli and Jouni’s friend Anni. We had so much fun throughout the evening, and I got to know the guys bit better. Tom asked me to come to his barber shop, so next month I’ll be trying a new technique to get my hair even brighter red, heh. Ohh, and our fab table came to close second in the Ville-trivia-game, which consisted hilarious pictures from Ville’s past.

The party ended around 2 a.m. and people parted to DTM and Den Kungliga Klubben. Best man Mikko, his husband Asmo and I took a cab home, which was wise choice, coz I still wanna keep that other promise (of not getting drunk before XmasParty) I made. I spent all day PhotoShopping the 500 pics I took, and got them dome, and uploaded to the official wedding site. I will be adding a selection of them (as well the hen night pics) to my own galleries here soon too.

So yes, another important event in the past weeks has been the guy’s bachelor party – or hen night, whatever you call the party for two gay grooms. That took place on saturday last week. We all met at the gay sauna Vogue, which was reserved for us only, and even ladies could get in. Ville and Karri were brought in there and were very suprised. We had sauna, steam sauna, swam, drank, did traditional tricks too them (like having to run naked across the hall while shouting aloud ex-lovers’ names etc.).

After Vogue we parted, and took Ville to do stuff Karri usually does (like playing floorball) and Karri to do stuff that Ville does (like demonstrate in front of the Parliament House and plant a tree to a downtown park). And of course all this was done in drag. Karri was made up into Queen Silvia of Sweden and Ville into Princess Victoria of Sweden (since they both love everything swedish). We friends were all dressed in blue and yellow, had hand-made wedding-scrafs around our necks and had swedish picnic-food with us. And bolly. We walked around the downtown and shopping malls and people sure stared at us. It was a great day indeed.

So basically all this week I have been PhotoShopping those partypics, so that they’d be ready for the album we gave the couple at the wedding. Also all though the week I have been watching the last season of Will & Grace. I ordered quite a bunch of dvd’s once again last week, and they’ve dropping in from my post box all through the week. So every day has been like a christmas! Watching the last episodes of any series I like makes me every time a bit melancholy, coz it always means the end of an era.
I mean, I’m not living in a fantasy world or anything, but I tend to start feeling close to certain people even if they’re just tv-characters. I mean, I even cried after they kicked Terhi out of Big Brother house last fall, coz I had grown to hear her voice daily and loved her way of thinking and dealing with things and people. Hell, most of my favourite aforisms and one-liners come from various tv-series!

Anyways, I’ve been quite anti-social this week because of all this. I’ve only seen Jani who’s been popping in for a visit (and doing laundry) and Sami (who did my hair for the wedding). Yep, I have bright new poppy red hair, which is shorter than ever. I squeezed in time to dine with Sanna on friday, coz we hadn’t done that in months. Actually so much time had passed that our favourite restaurant Satkar had gone under construction, so we had to go to Salve instead. (Which wasn’t a bad choice after all.)

I’ve had quite a few interesting chats online (while editing the pics). One that tops the others was with Ryan, who said something so unbeliavable, that I still have troubles believing it until I see “it”. But if “it” happens, I sure will tell everyone everything about it here, I promise. Ryan’s such a cool guy, he’s one of the reasons why I sometimes wish to actually live in States, coz it’d be so much easier to meet some of my friends. (Yes Doni, you’re one reason too.) (And you too, John.)

Still talking about that wedding, it’s so funny that all the good things just have to happen on one day. Like the bachelor party was on saturday, and lasted all day. I got invitations for not one but two Crab Season Parties plus my friend Teemu’s band’s (Tuplapuoli) single release party on that very same day. I discussed this with Jari (one of the crab-hosts) that this is the only sign of getting old that I recognize in myself: starting to choose which party to attend instead of running around the town and trying to make it to all of them.

And… finally something that’s got nothing to do with the wedding. I came home last tuesday and was curious when I heard the downstairs’ grocery store’s cashier lady talk with the customer in front of me about a crime. I thought the grocery had been robbed but…. nooo. She told me to go and have a look at the back yard (which is just 20 metres away from my terrace): there were police cars and a herse. They had found a dead body from the grocery’s garbage bin just few hours ago!! (And co-incidentally, the following day I got that Six Feet Under Collector’s Coffin dvd-boxset in the mail.)

Ok, 15 more minutes to the Emmies. I still have time to write down our plan for Madonna Trip. I bought 12 tickets for Madonna’s concert in Amsterdam earlier this spring. Now the concert is at hand, and we’re all going there in different ways and vehicles. Me, Miki and Jussi are taking a road trip, and here’s our plan:
Fri 1.9. We get our rental car, drive to Turku and hop onto the ferry to Stockholm.
Sat 2.9. Waking up in Stockholm, breakfast and little shopping and drive to Lund to dine at Jussi’s aunt. Continue driving to Copenhagen, where we stay overnight at Tommi’s and go out in the eve.
Sun 3.9. Drive all day through Germany to Amsterdam. Check into hotel Tulip Inn Art, meet the rest of the troops somewhere and go out clubbing.
Mon 4.9. Shopping and sightseeing, if we have time, and line up for the front row places. Concert. After the event meet the others for a drink, and after that… start driving all though the night back to Stockholm! Yep, I know it’s crazy, but we have good reasons to.
Tue 5.9. We should be back to Stockholm by 4.pm. If we have time, then shopping. If not, then straight to the ferry. If we miss the 4 o’clock ferry, then we have plenty of time, coz the latter ferry leaves at 10 p.m.
Wed 6.9. The ferry is at Helsinki around 10 a.m. (If we take the latter ferry, it’ll be at Turku 7.30 a.m. and we need to drive to Helsinki. And straight away to work – me and Miki at least. Jussi’s got day off so he can return the car.

Ok, two minutes. Now I need to go and get ready for taping the show.
Congrats if you made it all through this entry.

Mr. Sauna Video

I’m now sitting at the office waiting for one photoshoot to finish. Then I will upload the freelance photographer’s pix to our server and – voilà – my day is done. I’m chatting on the side with my friend Kidi who just revealed that their band @tak will make a comeback at their company’s showcase later in the fall. That was supposed to happen already at The Night Of the Arts next week, but some sponsor-problems postponed all that. Anyways, that’ll be sooo cool! I definitely have to be there with my cam!
I did one of my longest work days ever on Monday. I was at the office at 9 a.m. and took a tram home little after midnight. One awesome interview&photoshoot was booked for the very same day and it requiered videoshoot as well. Since our video-editor lives in farawy suburbia he wasn’t so happy about that last minute booking, so I volunteered to do the shoot. Heh. Yes, it involved a sauna and some naked hunks. Yes, I drooled quite a lot. And yes, I got a dinner too. So I won’t complain.
I was just damn tired yesterday, coz I had be at work at 9 a.m. again. I took a nap right after coming home, but that wasn’t a long pleasure, coz Jani came over and we watched the rest of the night Supernatural, and we’re now almost in the halfway of the first season.
Ok, I did get some updates fro my site too: I added Egill, Casey, Topi and Riku to my friends and few more pics to various galleries. Casey actually sent me a real two-page-letter that arrived in normal mail today! That was soooo cool suprise. Thanks!
I was dead tired this morning, but I had promised Sampo I’d accompany him to TV4 Finland’s Fall Press Junket, so I had to meet him in a cab right after 8 a.m. Good food, fellow journalists I hadn’t seen in months and nice gift-bag (as usual), so all in all very worth waking up. Also today wasn’t too tough in the office, so I’m feeling pretty great as we speak. Even though God only knows how long I still have to wait for those photos.
